Powershift Performance

Lake Erie Speedway is a high-banked (31°), 3/8-mile oval track, i.e. a fast track. There is no inside wall, only pavement in the center of the track. In a first for Bandit Racing, there were NO major crashes and NO yellow flag cautions. Although there were several close calls when trucks spun out and/or hit the wall or each other... but everyone was able to keep going.

Scott Treadway in the #4 Western Star won the first Heat Race. Marshall Davis in the #41 blue Volvo took Heat Race 2 after multiple spin outs by #63. And Tyler Kruckeberg in the #54 dark blue Kenworth took Heat Race 3. Morgan started Heat Race 3 in 3rd, but ended in 5th.

Morgan did not run in the Bandit Shoot Out. Scott Treadway in the #4 won most duels, but lost the last race to Ricky Rude in #14.

Challenge Race 1 was won by Mike Ward in the #16 Volvo. Morgan started in 5th and ended the race in 3rd. Challenge Race 2 was won by Ricky Rude in his #14 Peterbuilt.

Mike Morgan started the Main Race in 5th after a 12-position inversion. He ran 3-wide for several laps making contact with #55 in passing. This resulted in a flat rear tire for the rest of the race. By lap 5 he was in 3rd, by lap 8 he was in 2nd, and by lap 18 Morgan had the lead. Once there he held it and widened his distance while Rude's #14 made his way forward. Morgan held on and was never threatened, taking the checkered flag and the $10,000 in prize money! Looks like Mackvader is back in action after some serious issues that have kept the truck out of the winners circle so far this season. Must be the new gold bulldog and the "heart" of gold... or maybe it was Mikey's lucky hat!

Morgan broke with tradition, taking the winners interview and awards to the fan side of the fence... after doing a few donuts to celebrate!

Morgan gathered 90 points for placing 3rd in Qualifying times, 165 points for dropping from 3rd to 5th in his Heat Race, 192 points for advancing from 5th to 3rd in his Challenge Race, and 216 points for moving from 5th to 1st in the Main Race. Total points for this event were 663.0 and his total for the season so far is 1187.5 points putting Morgan in 15th place overall.
